Biographies - Simon Brumfit
Simon Brumfit has fantastic academic and business credentials and has packed an incredible amount into his 10 year procurement career.
Simon joined British Airways on the Graduate Management Scheme, purchasing in-flight food stuffs, ground handling services and aircraft engineering components. Simon also played a key role in the design and implementation of strategic sourcing processes across BA as part of a wider e-sourcing and category management roll-out.
In 2002 he joined Cap Gemini as a Consultant in the Supplier Relationship Management practice. He worked on a variety of high-profile projects, both in the UK and abroad, supporting private and public organisations to develop appropriate procurement strategies, better align their procurement organisations and deliver tangible benefits to the bottom line.
Simon demonstrated his managerial and change management capability when he joined The Learning Trust. A not-for-profit organisation, The Learning Trust manages over 100 nurseries, schools and colleges in London. As Head of Supplier Relations he was responsible for setting up a procurement department from scratch as well as managing a range of additional business-related functions including purchase ledger.
Most recently Simon worked for Barclays Wealth, where, reporting to the Director of Procurement at Barclays Capital, he took a lead role in setting up the non-IT procurement function across this fast moving, multi-sited business.
Simon holds a BA from Oxford University and an MSc from the University of Southampton. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
